5th Grade Math: Students were introduced to how to turn a fraction into a decimal using fraction strips, a ruler, and a straightedge. They have a diagram in their workbooks that will help them with this. The only thing extra that they need to complete this sheet is a straightedge. Some of them found this very confusing, so they might need a little extra help on it. Homework for tonight is to complete pages 141 and 142 in their workbooks.

5th Grade Math: Students learned about rounding decimals. We talked about when you would round down, round up, or round to the nearest number. I used examples such as interest on your bank account, figuring out your grades, and running for track or swimming. They will need to use this knowledge to help them with their homework tonight which is pages 139 & 140 in their workbooks.

4th Grade REWARDS: 4th graders are now using the REWARDS strategy to help them decode words while they are reading. This will help them while they are reading books at home for fun, reading a text book, or even with their spelling words. This week's passage is about an athlete named Wilma Rudolph and some the struggles that she has been through on her road to the Olympics.

2nd & 3rd Grade Read Naturally: Congrats to Josh who earned a book after completing his 36th story! Way to go Josh!

5th Grade Math: Today we started learning how to write a fraction as a decimal. To introduce students to this, they are learning to multiply the denominator by a number to equal 100. For example if the fraction was 3/4, they would multiply by 25 because 4 x 25=100. The class mantra is "What you do to the bottom, you need to do to the top". :) Homework for tonight is to complete pages 137 & 138 in their workbooks.

2nd & 3rd Grade Read Naturally: Gavin finished his first set of 12 stories earning him a book to take home! Skylie finished her 42nd book and she earned a prize! Congratulations to the both of you!!!
